OJEMA HOSTS APA/AGATU PDP EXCOS, DECLARES EXIT MOVE
The Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on National Inland Waterways, Chief Hon. Pst Ojotu Ojema FESMI, has declared his intention to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing persistent internal wrangling from the national to local levels.
Ojema made the declaration on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Obagaji, Agatu LGA, during a meeting with Apa/Agatu PDP executives.
He lamented that the deep divisions within the PDP have crippled its ability to serve members and constituents effectively.
“The PDP has been engulfed in internal wrangling that has made it difficult for the party to function cohesively. I cannot remain in a system that stifles progress and unity,” Ojema stated.
He said his decision followed prayers and consultations with family, associates and constituents, stressing that it was aimed at ensuring better representation and attracting more democratic dividends to Apa and Agatu.
“God’s instruction to me is to make people happy. My achievements in two years are visible across Apa and Agatu. I will do more if in the ruling party,” he added.
Ojema thanked PDP members for their support and assured them that his exit would not affect his long-standing relationships across party lines.
In their separate speeches, Former Agatu Legislative Leader, Hon. Ochokwu Alelu, Agatu LGA PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Oteyi, Apa LGA Acting PDP Chairman, Hon. Oki Saleh and Mrs. Alima Matthew, lauded Ojema’s performance and called on party members to stand by him wherever he goes because of the long standing relationship he has with party members, describing him as a unifying and development-oriented leader.
Hon. Prince Antenyi, Legislative Aide to the Federal Lawmaker in his speech, appreciated Hon Ojema for his wonderful performance so far, adding that the people of Apa LGA will continue to queue behind him, regardless to the party he belongs.
Antenyi added that, Ojema has provided sources of livelihoods to thousands of people in the Federal Constituency and will continue to be supported.
He said, in as much as the people of Apa love him so much and wish him to remain in PDP but will never go against God’s decision and will never encourage him to continue to remain in a shattering house until it collapses completely, directing Ojema to move on.
“Ojema made the seats of local Government and Ward party executives so enticing and difficult to leave. I know, he will do same in the new party he aligns himself with. Following him to the new destination will be a great omen for everyone”, Prince Antenyi said.
He called on the people of Agatu to follow their Apa counterparts who have decided to follow Hon Ojema to wherever he goes, saying him and all his supporters have already concluded to move with Ojema wherever he goes.
