LET US PRIORITIZE AND EDUCATE OUR PEOPLE ON COMPETENCY AND INTEGRITY
(*We Are Politically Okay Under Ojema To Lead Us Beyond 2027*)
Nigeria’s politics has long been dominated by zoning and power rotation, rather than competency and meritocracy. This trend is evident in the APA/Agatu Federal Constituency, where the focus is on where the next Representative comes from, rather than their ability to deliver results.¹
The constituency has a history of rotating power between APA and Agatu, with an unwritten rule of 8-year terms for each group.
From first Republic till date the constituency has elected 7 persons in which APA has spent 24 years in the same office they are crying for marginalization and Agatu has 16 years plus Ojema first term to make it 20yrs, by 2027 Agatu will take the last turn to equal APA 24 years. However, this approach has been criticized for prioritizing zoning over competency, leading to ineffective governance and underdevelopment.
In the case of Hon. Pastor Ojotu Ojema, his performance has earned him recognition, and many argue that he deserves another term based on his track record. However, others contend that Agatu should relinquish power to APA in 2027, citing marginalization and the need for power rotation.
Who is marginalised who is who in matter?
After their 24 years in the same office.
Ultimately, the focus should shift from zoning to competency, integrity, and accountability. The people of APA/Agatu deserve a leader who can deliver results, regardless of their geographical origin. As the Chinese Leader Deng Xiaoping famously said, “it doesn’t matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.”
To move forward, APA/AGATU must prioritize the following:
– *Competency*: Elect a leader with a proven track record of delivering results.
– *Integrity*: Ensure that the leader is accountable, transparent, and honest.
– *Accountability*: Establish mechanisms to hold the leader accountable for their actions and decisions.
– *Meritocracy*: Promote a system where the best candidate is chosen, regardless of their geographical origin.
By adopting this approach, APA/AGATU can break free from the shackles of zoning and power rotation, and focus on building a better future for all its citizens.
“Our Dreams For A New APA/Agatu Lies In Our Hands And Together We Can It Forward”.
Hon Pastor Ojotu ojema value all of us.
