Agatu Youths in Abuja Advocate for Zoning of 2027 Reps Ticket to Apa

*Agatu Youths in Abuja Advocate for Zoning of 2027 Reps Ticket to Apa*

As the anticipation for the 2027 general election builds, concerned youths from Agatu in Abuja and Nasarawa convened to advocate for the zoning of the House of Representatives ticket to Apa. During the meeting, they asserted that the current representative, Hon. Ojema, who hails from Obagaji, the same hometown as His Royal Majesty, the Ochi-Idoma Dr. John Elaigwu Odogbo, and is also an in-law to the Ochi-Idoma, no longer poses a viable threat to any candidate hence Agatu has already resolved not to make the ticket a family affairs.

The gathering, held at Astot Garden and Hotel near CBN Quarters in Old Karu, Abuja 10 May 2025, was attended by youths from various wards, including Obagaji, Ogwule-Kaduna, Usha, Enungba, Oshigbudu, and Okokolo.

Participants emphasized the significance of adhering to the zoning formula that has historically united the constituency, insisting that the upcoming election should focus on the broader political future of Agatu rather than individual interests. They called on Hon. Ojema to honor this perspective, considering the advantages his ward has enjoyed over the years compared to others.

Mr. Michael Olofu, one of the attendees and youth warrior, highlighted the need for Apa to thoroughly evaluate potential candidates who align with the constituency’s needs. He stressed the importance of selecting leaders who have demonstrated commitment to community development, has contributed to the fight against insecurity in Agatu in the past, and supported youth empowerment initiatives.

The meeting lasted for eight hours and included in the participation are five highly respected elders from Agatu, who pleaded unanimously, endorsed the youths’ stance. One among the elders urged attendees to take the campaign message home, encouraging them to educate voters about the risks associated with re-electing another representative from Agatu.

As the 2027 elections draw nearer, the Agatu youths remain steadfast in their commitment to advocating for a candidate who genuinely represents the interests of Agatu and not any how new comer.
