2027 Polls: Senator George Akume Imposes Senator Abba Moro On Benue South

Abba Moro is desperate, Says APC chieftain

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF), Senator George Akume and controversy are like Siamese twins.

Shortly after his Personal Assistant, Mr. Torhile Uchi, allegedly used his name to defraud favour seekers in Abuja, the SGF is currently enmeshed in another controversy. He has been taking the Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South, Comrade Abba Moro to prominent APC leaders in Abuja, begging them to give the Minority Leader who is of the PDP, the APC ticket for the 2027 general elections according to factual reporters.

Moro is excited about his defection to APC and had on the 14th June, 2025, during a meeting with a select stakeholders in Otukpo, announced that he would soon take a serious political decision and that he would revert to them after the decision was taken. The senator was speaking about his planned cross carpeting from PDP to APC.

After that announcement, he held a meeting with his core supporters and asked them to start decamping to APC ahead of his defection.

An APC critical stakeholder from Benue South who pleaded anonymity, described Moro as a power monger who is incurably desperate to grab power for his personal aggrandizement. He said Moro has never won elections without the backing and funding of Government House, Makurdi.

He said: “Senator Abba Moro is a power maximalist. He knows he has already lost the dead-On- Arrival reelection bid in 2027 and that is why he desperately needed the cover of Governor Hyacinth Alia and the APC national to win. In the 2023 elections, he lost his Federal Constituency but used Government House Makurdi, to rig himself to power in five out of nine LGAs. From the outbursts of the youths, people will resist rigging in 2027. Government house won’t save him this time.

“But trust me, there is no space in APC for Moro. We don’t want a desperado to come kill APC. Moro, if allowed to join APC, he will be a distraction to both Governor Alia and his government. A man who has been in Government since 1999 without any concrete track record is a colossal failure and should not be allowed to join the progressives. Under Moro, see how fractured Zone C has become. Moro should stay in the PDP that he and Ortom have destroyed, to rebuild it. We, the APC need a virole opposition to deliver good governance, everyone shouldn’t be in APC except if you are a progressive. Moro is certainly not one of us in the Progressive family.”

Reports have it that the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has bought into the plot and had started to shop for Moro’s replacement as Minority Leader even though it is the biggest minority party that should nominate a minority leader for the Senate President to announce. Akpabio, according to National Assembly sources, had recently joined the SGF to present Senator Moro to President Tinubu in the Villa for ratification.

Mr President allegedly refused to buy into the plot on grounds that the Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia whom Moro always attacks in Senate plenary as well as plot the down fall of his Government is manifestly against Moro’s defection.

Governor Alia reportedly told the APC apparatchik that receiving Moro into APC, will destroy the party the way the Senator did to PDP.

While advising the Senator to remain in PDP to rebuild it, having been exhumed from the political grave yard by same PDP, the Governor blatantly objected to the plot and instead, threatened to leave APC if Akume succeeds in imposing Moro on him. More meetings will be held, this time with Alia present, to achieve this Moro agenda

Akume is bent on imposing Moro on Governor Alia as part of his general plot to assemble more people, especially those of Idoma origin, to fight the Governor.

Observers wonder why Akume who hates Idoma people, like a plaque, Akume who denied Idoma Governor and Minister and all juicy Federal Government appointments, is bent on producing Senator for the Idoma nation.

Will Gov Alia and Idoma people allow Akume, a known enemy of Benue South, to impose Abba Moro on Zone C?

Time will TELL.

  1. Hahaha this post is too funny. Comrade Senator Abba Patrick Moro PhD is a big name, stronger than tiv Government house. He did not need government assistance to win elections. S.A.M is the only PDP senator return during 2023 election in North Central without the help of anybody. No plans for defection and he didn’t need any government to win elections.
