War ends as Alia, Dajoh, Ikpwambese reconcile, restore peace in benue
The political war among the Executive, Legislative and the Judiciary Arms of Benue State Government seems to have come to an end as the state governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, following the directive of President Bola Tinubu today reconciled with the embattled Chief Judge of the State, Justice Maurice Ikpwambese as well as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Dajoh Aondoana.
The event took place today at the Benue State Government House in Makurdi during a peace-making meeting which involved the governor, Speaker and the Chief Judge of the State.
Analysts see this humble and respectful move by all the parties converedi as an end to the wranglings among all the Arms of government in Benue state.
It was gathered that the Governor Hyacinth Alia was acting on the presidential directive handed to him by President Bola Tinubu during his last week’s meeting with Benue state stakeholders in Makurdi that he should reconcile all the agitating persons and Arms of government in order to restore peace back to the state.
It was also gathered that the governor as a result of his respect for the office of Mr. President has started making efforts to reconcile every aggrieved individual since the presidential directive with a belief that such will bring peace back to the state.
Recall that Governor Hyacinth Alia had last week paid a visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume in order to fulfil a directive by President Bola Tinubu that they should both meet to form a Committee of former governors and top traditional rulers in Benue state that will see to the insecurity in the state.
The governor had submitted the list to the Presidency last week.
Meanwhile, Benue Defenders for Democracy has lauded the governor for his commitment to peace and security of the people of Benue State for ensuring that he is working together with all stakeholders from the state across party line.
A statement by the Secretary of the group, Mr. Apine John quoted the group as saying that the people of the State who have always been working for the reelection of both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Alia in 2027 have decided to continue as a result of the governor’s humility and commitment to their safety.
