Man beaten for disputing herdsmen attack in Benue community
A man identified as AliaDoo Zape Upaa was reportedly beaten by enraged residents of Ukpiam, a community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, after allegedly attempting to downplay a violent assault carried out by suspected herdsmen.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred in the heart of the village after Zape began recording a video in which he claimed the community was never attacked.
This infuriated locals who were still grappling with the trauma of the previous night’s violence, prompting them to confront and physically assault him.
Images now circulating on social media show Zape with bruises and injuries, confirming he sustained harm during the altercation.
“It was shocking to see someone trying to deny what we all witnessed,” a resident told reporters.
“People reacted immediately.”
