Plot to remove Benue speaker, principal officers by Abuja politicians thickens
This Newspaper can authoritatively report moves by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume to mobilize state lawmakers to impeach Speaker Dajoh Aondoana.
The SGF is also plotting to remove all the Principal Officers of the House of Assembly in a move to hijack the leadership of the House.
This newspaper also gathered from some members of the Benue State House of Assembly who preferred not to be mentioned owing to the sensitivity of the matter that the former governor is planning to hang the impeachment plot on the neck of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The plan, according to an Assembly member from Benue Northeast is to turn the speaker and the Principal Officers of the House of Assembly against Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The state lawmaker from Zone A who is known for his vibrancy on the Floor of the House pressed further that Senator George Akume is leveraging on the recent recommendation and invitation of the Assembly against some appointees of the governor.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that there is a plot to remove them. I have attended two meetings to that effect but about three of us are tactically pulling out because it’s a plot to turn the executive and the legislative arms against each other.
“The plan is to make it look like the governor is the one plotting to remove the speaker and other principal officers of the House because the lawmakers under Dajoh are speaking against his appointees and government contractors”
“We were told that removing Dajoh and other principal officers will automatically win them to the side of the SGF who has told us that his ally, Becky Orpine should be supported to be the next speaker immediately Dajoh is removed”
Two other lawmakers who spoke on the condition of anonymity hinted that a final meeting where the plot will be sealed will be held in Abuja before the end of the week.
They confirmed that the funds required for the impeachment plot have been raised by two undisclosed federal appointees as one senator from Benue state.
