We will re-elect Sen. Moro, Ojema again come 2027- Agatu PDP Caucus Members disclosed.

… urged Apa/Agatu Rep, Hon Ojema to reject those asking him to join APC, referred to such Persons as those who do not mean well for him.

By John Anthony Ikwulono l August, 13th 2025

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus Members in Agatu Local Government had promised to go all round in making sure that the Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Comrade Abba Moro , is returned back to the Senate come 2027 as well as the House of Representatives Member Representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Chief Ojotu Ojema due to their effective representation at the National Assembly.

The party members disclosed this on Wednesday, 13th August, 2025 at Oshigbudu, in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, during its party’s emergency caucus meeting.

Addressing party faithfuls on the ongoing rumours of planned defection of Hon. Ojotu Ojema to APC, the former Commissioner for Youths and Sports and Legislative Aide to Senate Minority Leader, Hon Michael Umoru Inalegwu , said the meeting was aimed at uniting the people and working towards peace and progress of PDP, adding that those calling on Hon. Ojotu Ojema to join them in APC do not mean well for him.

Inalegwu further stated that, where were those calling Ojema now in 2023 when PDP gave him the ticked, stood by him and ensure he won his election then? He emphasized that same people who supported Ojema are intact and ready to replicate same come 2027.

According to Hon Inalegwu, PDP has resolved its crisis, the party has one National Chairman and Secretary, unlike APC with two camps, wondering why anyone would like to join the divided party. He said Senator Moro and Ortom who are leaders of PDP would not abandon the party, but would remain with the party and its members, and have all it takes to finance the party at the state level. He quoted Senator Moro as saying; “the day he will leave PDP marks the last day of his life here on earth”.

He revealed that, ADC is divided with many people getting ready to return to PDP as agitation to contest for Senate by two leaders of ADC in zone C, has tore the party apart. He commended Senator Moro for making sure that all the current party exco members who won during the last congress were confirmed by the National leadership of the party. He warned those trying to leave PDP to tender their resignation letters at the ward level instead of staying in the party and carrying out anti party activities, saying former President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Goodluck Jonathan is set to fly the Presidential ticket of PDP come 2027 with all those who served during Jonathan’s tenure returning to PDP to join their Boss.

In her remarks, the North Central Zonal Woman Leader and former Chairman of Agatu LGC, Hon. Mrs. Eghiaruwa Owakoyi said, “PDP is so organized that when you leave the party, you must surely return back immediately”.

Her words;

“PDP is so organized that when you leave the party, you must surely return back to PDP. PDP always remember to lift people up. The party has elevated many. On the rumour of Ojema leaving for APC, its shameful to hear that HoR Member is contemplating joining APC, such will not happen because I wont be able to face North Central Zone to tell them that Ojema, my House of Representatives Member is leaving PDP. Each time people consult me for leadership position, I usually tell them to choose credible people who are accepted by people instead of imposing people”, Owakoyi rechoed.

She appealed to people to forgive Ortom and Moro in any way they must have offended them. According to her, Ojotu doesn’t do anything in the absence of Moro. She urged party faithfuls to support party leaders and remain in PDP.

Earlier in his speech, the PDP Chairman Agatu local Government, Hon. Oteyi Sunday , said, the party is intact, Hon. Ojema wasn’t leaving the party as rumoured by people, saying the meeting was called to encourage members to remain focused and keep faith with the party, adding that, Senator Moro and Hon. Ojema were aware of the meeting and equally sent logistics for the meeting.

In their separate speeches, Ward Chairman of Odugbeho, Hon. Dahiru Haruna who spoke onbehalf of Zone A ward Chairmen, Moru Noah Alias “Abba Moro”, the ward Chairman of Oshigbudu ward who spoke on behalf of Zone B ward Chairmen, as well as Umar Shaidu the Ward Chairman of Ogwule Kaduna ward who spoke onbehalf of Zone C ward Chairmen, all pledged their unalloyed supports to PDP saying they would remain in PDP with their Exco Members as no one is willing to leave his or her position to join others in another party as followers or floor members. They appealed to Senator Moro to give Federal Government Jobs to Agatu sons and daughters and replicate the dividends of democracy in other local Government Areas also in Agatu.

Speaking on behalf of women, PDP women Leader Mrs Sarah Ademu and her predecessor, Mrs Maria Ongaji said, you can’t build your house and abandon same for another person, appealing to Senator Moro to remember Women.

Also speaking on behalf of Zone A elders, Hon. Michael Obiabo urged people who are confused about anything, to ask questions for clarification, saying the party leaders should encourage those who laboured so hard for the party by empowering them instead of focusing on those who barely contributed anything to the election of our leaders.

Hon. Ochokwu Alelu who spoke on behalf of Zone B elders said, the meeting is aimed at resolving our differences and not to destroy our house, pointing out that, since he joined PDP in 1999, he has never gone to any party. He appealed to Senator Moro to visit Agatu personally and hold meeting with party members to give them sense of belonging. On the rumour of decamping of House of Representatives Member Representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Chief Hon. Ojotu Ojema, Hon Alelu said since the rep member has not told anyone that he was leaving, people should disregard the rumours.

Elder Aladan alias “Onugegidi”, said PDP can’t be destroyed. He said Ojema is not leaving, people should stop the rumours and join forces together to return both Moro and Ojema back to National Assembly due to their effective representation.

The former PDP Chairman Agatu LGC and current State Assistant Auditor of PDP, Hon Emmanuel Eche encouraged members to remain focused and keep faith with PDP and shouldn’t allow anyone to deceive them, adding that, God is the owner of the destinies of all and can lift anyone any day anytime whether they get support from anyone or not.

His words;

“What happened during the congress, I was the one who handed over to Hon. Sunday Oteyi. Some ADC members are not happy with the current party excos because they contested for the position too but lost and that is why they got angry. Senator Moro was very instrumental to the election of the current Exco Members and if not for him, they wouldn’t have been recognized as Exco Members”.

He said he was sad when he heard about Ojema’s planned defection and he asked him and he said he has no such plan but he can’t do anything in the absence of God’s directives. He further stated that, he already told Hon Ojotu Ojema that if he joins APC, he won’t be returned as House of Representatives Member come 2027. He charged Exco Members not to be afraid but should remain focused and remain in PDP, adding that, God will give each person what is meant for him or her. He said even Governor Alia who is calling Hon Ojema to leave PDP, is finding it difficult to be reelected again come 2027 as Governor and shouldn’t be deceived by anyone.

The State Assistant Treasurer of PDP Benue State, Hon Silas Idakwo said the State Chairman of PDP Benue State, Rt. Hon. Hon Ezekiel A. Adaji , sent his greetings to party members. He disclosed that, during the 2023 campaign period, Senator Moro took them to all the nooks and crannies of Zone C and he won his election, same efforts will be put in place again come 2027 and by the grace of God, Senator Moro and Hon. Ojema will be reelected to represent us again, saying Ojema is not going anywhere, he will remain in PDP and so people should disregard the rumours of his decamping to APC.
