“Empowering Women, Securing the Future: A Call to Action Beyond 2027”
By Monday Mariam Odufah
As I reflect on the comments following my article, “The Disconnect Between Nigeria’s Economic Policies and the Plight of the Common Man,” one response struck a chord. A reader poignantly pointed out that many poor Nigerians, including women, often prioritize short-term gains over long-term benefits, selling their votes for minimal incentives. This observation highlights a deeper issue: the need for awareness and empowerment.
To my fellow women, I urge you to consider the long-term implications of your choices. Your votes are your voices, and they deserve to be heard on issues that truly matter. Let’s work together to create a future where our votes reflect our values and aspirations, not just immediate needs.
As we approach 2027, let’s prioritize education, awareness, and collective action. Let’s ensure our voices are heard and our votes count. Together, we can shape a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.
