Apochi Owoicho “The People’s Champion” in Apa-Agatu House of Representatives Race

A growing number of supporters across Apa-Agatu have described House of Representatives aspirant Apochi Owoicho as “the people’s champion,” citing his long-standing community engagement, grassroots service, and deep understanding of local challenges.
One of his supporters, Igbe Bawa Enogela, said Owoicho stands out among the aspirants because of his close connection to the people and his consistent involvement in community development long before seeking elective office.
“Apochi Owoicho is not just a candidate, he is one of us,” Enogela said. “His story and actions are rooted in the community, shaped by lived experience and guided by service. He understands our challenges and is ready to tackle them boldly.”

According to supporters, Owoicho’s appeal lies in his track record rather than campaign promises. Over the years, he has been involved in initiatives focused on education, youth development, medical outreaches, youth capacity building and community mobilisation across Apa and Agatu, earning him trust among residents.
Observers note that Owoicho’s approach positions him as a unifying figure in a constituency that has historically witnessed intense political competition and zoning debates. With over ten aspirants reportedly vying for the Apa-Agatu House of Representatives seat including Barr. Joy Okpainmo, who is campaigning on youth empowerment, agriculture, and healthcare the contest is expected to be keenly contested.

The constituency has also been shaped by ongoing discussions around zoning, with Apa communities advocating for representation following consecutive terms by Agatu. Other notable political figures linked to the race include incumbent Ojotu Ojema, Otalaka, and Jeffrey Isima.
Supporters argue that beyond zoning considerations, the election presents an opportunity to prioritise leadership defined by credibility, inclusion, and service.
“At a time when trust in leadership is fragile, Apochi Owoicho represents credibility and compassion,” Enogela added. “He listens, engages, and acts. That is why many people see him as the people’s champion.”

As political activities intensify ahead of the election, Owoicho’s campaign team has called on constituents and supporters to actively participate in shaping the future of the constituency.
