*OCHE’AGATU PALACE SCANDAL: 40 MILLION NAIRA MISSING, NOW AGATU YOUTH DEMAND ANSWERS*
The Agatu National Youth Council (ANYC) is up in arms over alleged misappropriation of 40 million naira meant for the construction of Oche’Agatu palace. The funds were allegedly released to a former Local Government Chairman, (name withheld).
In a statement, ANYC Convener, Comr Ochokwunu Daniel Edor, expressed disappointment that the former chairman has not explain the whereabouts of the funds. Edor demanded that current Chairman, Hon. James Melvin Ejeh, convene an emergency meeting with former cabinet members to account for the money.
“The chairman does not work in isolation; the vice chairman, secretary, and supervisory counselors are equally responsible,” Edor said. “We demand transparency and accountability. Where is the palace? Show us the building and its value.”
Edor lamented that Oche’Agatu, a second-class chief, still lacks a palace, while third-class chiefs have government-built palaces. “A king without a palace is not yet a king,” he said, urging the chairman to act swiftly.
The youth council has threatened further action if their demands are not met, saying, “We better get this before we go into details on this matter, and it’s not likely to be favourable to anyone.”
