*AGATU YOUTH SOUND ALARM OVER ALLEGED PLAN SECURITY AGENCIES’ INTERROGATION OF AGBENU OIGENE*
The Agatu National Youth Council (ANYC) has expressed outrage and concern over reports that security agencies are interrogating Agbenu Oigene, a young woman who has spoken out against the violence perpetrated by herdsmen in Obagaji.
In a statement, Comr Ochokwunu Daniel Edor, Convener of ANYC, warned that any harm to Agbenu would be met with severe consequences, citing the community’s frustration with the insecurity situation. The statement questioned the focus of security agencies, pointing out that they often target locals for alleged cow rustling while ignoring the real perpetrators.
The ANYC has alerted local leaders, including Honourable James Melvin Ejeh, Honourable Godwin Abu Edoh, and Senator Comrade Abba Moro, to the potential conspiracy to silence Agbenu and urged them to intervene. The organization also called on Governor Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to ensure the safety of Agbenu and others speaking out against the violence.
The statement concluded with an appeal to Obagaji and Agatu leaders to prioritize the community’s safety and security.
