*AGATU YOUTH LEADER’S CALL FOR PEACE WITH FULANI SPARKS OUTRAGE*
Comr Ochokwunu Daniel Edor, Convener of Agatu Indigenous Youth Association (AIYA), has slammed Ibrahim Musa aka IYA, President of Agatu Youth Development Forum, for suggesting dialogue with Fulani herdsmen. Edor posted on his verified Facebook account, calling the suggestion “stupid” and questioning IYA’s motives.
IYA had urged Agatu people to make peace with Fulani, citing Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s statement that he has no funds to fight insecurity. Edor alleged that IYA was hired by the government to change the narrative, pointing out that the suggestion echoes the Agatu local government chairman’s earlier proposal, which was rejected.
Edor questioned the timing of IYA’s statement, coming after a protest demanding herdsmen leave Agatu land. He also raised concerns about the military’s role in insecurity, citing alleged incidents in Jos and Obagaji, and demanded the withdrawal of military personnel from Agatu.
“We no longer trust the military,” Edor stated. “We need our youths empowered to safeguard our territory.” AIYA is calling for protests if the military remains in Agatu.
