No Democracy in Bloodshed: Benue Mourns, Not Celebrates: by Comr Ogwola Jnr.
June 12 should be a day of hope, freedom, and unity. But for us in Benue, it is a day of pain and mourning.
As the rest of the nation marks Democracy Day,
Benue bleeds. In Apa and Agatu, families are grieving.
In North Bank, Makurdi the state capital people have been slaughtered in cold blood.
Our communities are under siege, and our cries are met with silence.
What is there to celebrate when lives are being lost daily?
What is democracy without security?
What is freedom when our people live in fear?
We are not safe. We are not free. We are not celebrating.
To our leaders this is beyond politics.
This is about human lives. Unite across party lines.
Rise above ethnic and religious divides.
Enough is enough. Let us put an end to this nightmare.
Benue deserves peace.
Benue deserves justice.
Benue deserves true democracy.
Comr, Ogwola Jnr.
