“This is Not War!” – Senator Moro Decries Yelwata Carnage, Hails Tinubu’s Leadership

The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro, PhD, joins other well-meaning Nigerians to condemn, in the strongest terms, the attack on Yelwata in Guma LGA of Benue State by suspected herdsmen, which claimed over 200 innocent lives and led to the wanton destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

Senator Moro says a country that is not at war should not witness such carnage, describing the incident as horrendous, abhorrent, barbaric, and inhumane.

The Senator commends President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his prompt response to the attack—his call to the Governor of Benue State, Fr. Hyacinth Alia; the dispatch of all heads of security agencies and the National Security Adviser to the state; and his planned visit to Makurdi on Wednesday. He says the President’s actions will eventually stem the tide of the unprovoked killings that have become a recurrent decimal in the state.

Senator Moro says he stands with the people of Yelwata, Apa, Agatu, Naka, Otukpo, Ogbadibo, and all the communities in the state ravaged by rampaging herders. He adds that he will continue to work with the relevant stakeholders and authorities to end the killings in the state.

The Senator extends his heartfelt condolences to Senator Titus Zam, the Senator representing Benue North-West Senatorial District; the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom; and all those directly and indirectly affected by the Yelwata attack. He prays God to rest the souls of all the deceased in the various attacks in the state in perfect peace.
