*OLEGEJE COMMUNITY REBUILDS DESTROYED SCHOOL AMID LEADERS’ SILENCE*
The Olegeje community has taken matters into their own hands, rebuilding their government-owned primary school destroyed by Fulani herdsmen over a year ago. Comr Aboh Joseph Samuel, Olegeje Students President, reports that repeated pleas for help were ignored by authorities, prompting this painful decision.
L.G.E.A Primary School’s destruction has left children without classrooms, restricting their right to education. Despite urgency, leaders remain silent: Agatu Council Chairman Hon. Amb James Melvin Ejeh, Benue State Assembly’s Hon. Godwin Abu Edoh, Federal Representative Hon. Chief Ojotu Ojema, and Education Commissioner Hon. Dr Margaret Adamu.
“Is this not part of leadership’s responsibility to protect education and our children’s future?” Comr Aboh asks, quoting Jean-Jacques Rousseau: “Children are not born knowing; they are born able to learn.”
The community questions why Olegeje is neglected, citing Aristotle: “Those who educate children well are more to be honored than parents…”
“We marvel at our representatives’ silence,” Comr Aboh says, appealing for leaders’ attention. “May God touch their hearts.”
