OJEMA GRACES EGBA DAY CELEBRATION

*OJEMA GRACES EGBA DAY CELEBRATION*

—Congratulates the people and assures them of more Dividends of Democracy

The Member representing Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on National Inland Waterways, Chief. Hon. Pst Ojotu Ojema FESMI, has assured the people of Egba in Agatu LGA of more Dividends of Democracy to their Community.

He gave this assurance on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025 while speaking during this year’s Egba Day yearly Celebration at the community play ground.

“Let me begin by thanking God for making this year’s Celebration possible. I woke up this morning, contemplating on which of the numerous schedules I should attend. I was entangled to choose between EGBA DAY Festivity or the PDP Stakeholders meeting taking place simultaneously in Makurdi but I picked the first option because of the love I have for the people of the community and to also witness the event personally. If I had missed the occasion and someone would come and tell me the story, I wouldn’t forgive myself”.

“My being here is the right decision I have taken as it has availed me the opportunity to meet with the Traditional Ruler, the elders, women and youths of the community”

“Let me use this opportunity to congratulate you for a very peaceful and joyous Festivity, God has really done something greatly for you by showing His love upon you. I wish I hail from Egba community”.

“The last time I came to Egba during electioneering, I assured the community that, I am ever ready to do whatever any illustrious son/daughter of Egba can do for the community, that is why as they all gather here, I am also here in their midst”.

“One very important thing I want to also tell you is that; Government always considers communities with the highest populations in the distribution of projects and relief materials. If you take a cursory look at the population strength of the 10 Council Wards in Agatu LGA, Egba comes 3rd after Obagaji and Usha. Therefore, your community is always considered in the scheme of things. I can vividly recall when the people of the once prosperous Egba Community were harvesting their agricultural produce and were selling and buying pick-up vans, no vehicle could be found in any Agatu community. A progressive and prosperous community will not want war. Only a retrogressive community that will prefer crisis over peace so that the people can attack and steal from other communities. Anything that affects Egba also affects the entire Agatu. If Agatu is destroyed today, Egba will bear the 3rd highest brunt of the destruction because of its 3rd position in the entire local government. Therefore, it is expected that Egba Community should always pray for peace, security and unity of Agatu LGA and will not do anything that will destabilize Agatu land. Peace has come to stay in Agatu land and may it continue to improve in the name of our creator”.

“Let me appreciate the Traditional Ruler of Egba (Oche’G’Egba), HRH Chief James. What people are saying about him is different from his character. He is a committed and devoted Christian who wants the peace and progress of Agatu land. His efforts have started yielding positive results as you can see from the way people are enjoying the festivity and don’t want to leave due to peace and tranquility in the community. We pray that his efforts will restore a long lasting peace”, Ojema said.

Pst Ojema also made reference to Matthew 22:34-46 in the Holy Bible where the Pharisees met Jesus and asked Him, which is the greatest and 2nd greatest of the 10 Commandments, after which Jesus replied them as: “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind as the first and greatest Commandment while He said the second is: “You must love your neighbor as you love yourself”.

The Aboh-OcheK’Idoma admonished the people of Egba and other Agatu Communities to adhere to these two greatest Commandments so that, Peace, Security and development will reign in Agatu land as any society that violates the two laws will always experience war and other forms of calamity.

“While God is restoring love among the people in Agatu, the devil is hellbent to instill hatred among the people. We pray that, God will in His infinite mercy, remove any form of hatred so that love will flow throughout Agatu land “, Ojema reiterated

The Performing and Award-winning Federal Lawmaker thanked the people of Egba for their support before, during and after the 2023 general elections.

“I came to you without money before the last general elections after my resignation as Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Benue State. People were disparaging and making mockery of me but I insisted God directed me to serve my people in higher level. You were convinced as you and other Agatu communities joined me in actualizing my mission. My Joy is that, nobody has brought any damning report against me for indecency, alcoholism, infidelity or disrespect since my emergence as a Reps Member”.

“Finally, I have made possible the establishment of NIWA Jetty Termal at Ocholonya Waterway in order to ease difficulty in transportation of goods and services for Egba villages living along Benue River and other riverine communities and work is in advanced stage. A borehole has been sunk in this community, Solar Integrated Street Lights are being installed, Security through our collective efforts is improving and other dividends of Democracy to follow soon. All I need from you is your ceaseless prayer for my successful leadership so that all I planned for your community will delivered. Thank you and may God bless you”, Ojema concluded.
