AIYA President Vows Defiance Amid Threats Over Egba–Ologba Land Dispute
The Convener and National President of the Agatu Indigenous Youth Association, Comr. Ochokwunu Daniel Edor, has dismissed threats against him over his outspoken stance on the Egba–Ologba land dispute, accusing unnamed actors of “lawlessness” and intimidation.
In a statement issued on Monday, Edor said his decision to “keep calm” on the issue “for the time being” was not born of fear or threats, but out of respect for his elders.
“I have lived with cowards all my life because they fear death, and that was all that is needed for the evil that has grown in our land today,” he said.
Edor challenged those threatening him to contact him directly, stating he would welcome any visitor and would not be intimidated by attempts to locate him. “If you need my address, DM me, and I will send it to you… I gallant any day, anytime,” he said.
He criticized what he described as a shift by those “saddled with the responsibility to protect” to threatening citizens instead. “People saddled with the responsibility to protect are now resulting to threatening of same people and you think I should be trembling that you can find me? Bullshit!!!” Edor stated.
The AIYA leader said he knows the sources of information being circulated about him and warned against underestimating him. “You should know I know all it entails before getting involved… you don’t underrate a chicken who wakes in the morning and starts pursuing a lion; he knows what he carries,” he said.
Edor said he would pause public commentary for now while waiting for “the right thing to be done,” warning that unresolved issues would resurface. “It’s a break, while we wait for the right thing to be done, and not sweeping dirt on top of the seeds, for they will still germinate even in that dustbin they are covered and dumped,” he said.
