BENUE LINKS GENERAL MANAGER URGES DRIVERS TO PRIORITISE SAFETY.

The General Manager of Benue Links Nigeria Limited, Comrade Alexander Aondohemba Fanafa KSM MNIM, has appealed to company drivers to always drive cautiously to prevent accidents and other unwanted incidents.

Comrade Fanafa made this appeal during the Weekly Safety Orientation Meeting held at the company’s corporate headquarters on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Addressing concerns about a viral video showing a Benue Links driver engaging in reckless driving, the General Manager announced a five-month suspension for the driver pending the conclusion of investigations. He emphasized that the penalty should serve as a deterrent to others.

Furthermore, he warned that any driver who violates safety regulations and tarnishes the company’s image will face penalties, including possible dismissal. He urged all drivers to remain vigilant, exercise caution, and strictly adhere to highway safety codes while on duty.

Comrade Fanafa reminded drivers of their responsibility to safeguard passengers’ lives, as they are at the highest risk in road accidents. He advised them to take constructive feedback from passengers seriously, as passengers also have a role in ensuring safety by speaking up when necessary.

The Traffic Manager, Mr. Mark Aondoaver Shie, echoed this sentiment, stressing that wrongful driving endangers not only passengers but also their property and pedestrians. He urged drivers to exercise extra caution when approaching towns and market areas to prevent accidents.

Similarly, the Head of the Monitoring Unit, Mr. Bitrus Mhembe, encouraged drivers to be mindful of their actions, as the public is always watching, and eyewitnesses will testify in the event of an accident. He urged them to actively participate in Safety Orientation Meetings to enhance their knowledge of road safety and best practices.
