*THE COALITION FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE*
*DEMANDS JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS OF EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLINGS ACROSS NIGERIA*

Date: 31st March 2025

The Coalition for Peaceful Coexistence vehemently condemns the alarming trend of extrajudicial killings in Nigeria and demands justice for all victims, regardless of region, ethnicity, or religion. The culture of impunity must end, and justice must be total, not selective.

The tragic murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto State, who was lynched over allegations of blasphemy, remains an open wound in the heart of the nation. Similarly, the brutal killing of a woman engaged in early morning evangelism in Abuja highlights the growing threat to religious freedom and human rights in our country. These incidents are not isolated but are part of a disturbing pattern that must be addressed decisively.

We strongly assert that the recent call for justice over the killing of the Uromi 16 in Edo State must not be treated in isolation. Justice must be comprehensive and not be dictated by regional or religious biases. The same urgency and commitment shown in demanding justice for the Uromi 16 must also be applied to Deborah Samuel and the Abuja evangelist. Anything short of this would amount to hypocrisy and selective justice, which is unacceptable.

The Coalition for Peaceful Coexistence calls on the leadership of the Northern region to ensure that the killers of Deborah Samuel and the Abuja evangelist are brought to book. Justice must not be a one-sided affair. It is imperative that leaders from all parts of the country recognize that the sanctity of human life knows no ethnic or religious boundary. The perpetrators of these heinous crimes must be held accountable to prevent a cycle of violence and retaliation.

We urge the Nigerian government, security agencies, and judicial institutions to take swift and unbiased action to ensure that all those responsible for extrajudicial killings are apprehended and prosecuted according to the law. No life is more valuable than another, and selective justice will only fuel further division and unrest.

Nigeria must stand as a nation of justice, equity, and peaceful coexistence. The rule of law must prevail over mob violence and impunity. We demand that the killers of Deborah Samuel, the Abuja evangelist, and the Uromi 16 all face the full weight of the law. Justice for one must mean justice for all.
