Hon. Ojotu Ojema Urged to Prioritize Community Needs for Sustainable Development

**Hon. Ojotu Ojema Urged to Prioritize Community Needs for Sustainable Development**

The completion of the Special Needs School in Igumale, facilitated by Chief (Dr.) Philip Agbese, is a commendable step toward enhancing educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Special schools play an essential role in fostering an inclusive society, providing tailored support and resources that enable students with special needs to thrive academically and socially. This initiative not only demonstrates a commitment to equity in education but also serves as a vital community resource, empowering families and supporting the broader societal integration of these individuals.

However, as Hon. Ojotu Ojema reflects on the development needs of his constituents, it is imperative that he takes a holistic approach to community engagement. Understanding the immediate needs of the people should guide his initiatives more than merely completing projects for the sake of visibility. While building standard schools and infrastructure is significant, it is crucial to assess whether these developments genuinely address the community’s pressing challenges.

For instance, in addition to educational facilities, the urgent need for healthcare services should not be overlooked. Diseases like diabetes and complications from snake bites are rampant issues affecting the community’s health. Hon. Ojema can emulate the proactive approaches of successful leaders such as Okaga of Enone, who prioritize active dialogue with their communities to identify their most critical needs. By engaging with constituents, Hon. Ojema can better allocate resources and attract essential federal facilities that combat these health challenges.

Doing so would not only fulfill the immediate requirements of the community but would also pave the way for sustainable development that resonates with the people’s aspirations. It is crucial for the Honourable Member to avoid the distractions of negative propaganda from dissenters who may misconstrue his advocacy for progress as an attack. Instead, he should embrace constructive criticism and foster a collaborative environment that values the voices of the community.

Ultimately, understanding and addressing the immediate needs of his constituents will not only enhance Hon. Ojema’s reputation but also ensure that his legacy is one rooted in genuine progress and responsiveness to the people’s aspirations.

I still remain your sincere brother,

Comrade Paul G Edoh Jr

Concerned constituent member
