The PDP governorship candidate in the September 21 Edo governorship election and actual winner of the poll, Asue Ighodalo, has hailed Nigerian workers, noting that their dedication is backbone of the Country’s future.
Ighodalo made the remark Thursday May 1st, 2025, in solidarity with Nigerian workers to celebrate Workers’ Day.
“Today, we celebrate the hands that build, the minds that move, and the hands that keep our nation strong”, Ighodalo noted.
Labour Day is an annual day of celebration of the labour movement and its achievements; it has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.
In most countries, Labour Day is synonymous with, or linked with, International Workers’ Day, which happens on 1 May, originally chosen to commemorate the 1886 general strike which culminated in the Haymarket affair.
“Happy Workers’ Day to every worker, whose dedication is the backbone of our tomorrow”, the lawyer, politician concluded.
