Paul Edoh: Benue Activist Calls Out Honourable Ojotu Ojema for Neglecting Security Issues in Apa-Agatu

In a passionate critique, Comrade Paul Edoh Jr, a prominent Benue activist and journalist, has once again taken to social media and public forums to express his discontent with Honourable Ojotu Ojema’s negligence in addressing the alarming security challenges plaguing constituents in Apa-Agatu federal constitutioncy. Edoh Jr’s statement comes in light of Honourable Blessing Onyeche Onuh’s recent efforts to highlight the pressing issues facing Benue and her constituents up on her resumption from the brief recess approved for Nigerian lawmakers.

The ongoing security crisis in Benue State has come under renewed scrutiny, with local activist and journalist Comrade Paul Edoh Jr. condemning Honourable Ojotu Ojema for his apparent indifference to the brutal realities faced by constituents in the Apa-Agatu federal Constituency. Edoh Jr’s comments were sparked by the tragic murder of Ernest Owoicho, a father of two, who allegedly died in military custody after being summoned by personnel from the Nigerian Army for questioning.

As the Nigerian House of Representatives reconvened this week, Edoh emphasized the urgency of addressing the grim realities faced by residents, which include attacks by marauding Fulani herdsmen in Ojantele Akpete ward of Apa local government and widespread insecurity around other areas within Apa and Agatu local government. “If Honourable Ojema cannot advocate for his own people, who will?” Edoh posed, urging the legislator to step up and fulfill his duties as a representative.

In stark contrast to Ojema’s silence, Honourable Blessing Onyeche Onuh, representing the Otukpo/Ohimini federal constituency, has taken a bold stance by raising awareness about the security issues afflicting Otobi Akpa, Adoka and other areas within her constituency in Benue State. Her recent motion in the National Assembly called for urgent national attention to the plight of various villages suffering from violent incursions and instability.

Edoh underscored the importance of collective action and accountability, stating that insecurity is not only a local issue but a national concern that requires immediate and comprehensive solutions from lawmakers at all levels. He further pressed Honourable Ojema to bring the case of Owoicho and other unresolved security incidents to the forefront, emphasizing that the rights and safety of constituents should be paramount in legislative discussions.

“This is a moment for our leaders to show courage and commitment. They must stand up for the voices of the voiceless, and Honourable Ojema has a responsibility to be that voice for the people of Apa-Agatu,” Edoh concluded, reinforcing the call for proactive measures to address safety in the comstituency.

As the public awaits a response from Ojema, Media team members, Apa-Agatu stakeholders allegedly rally behind leaders like Honourable Onyeche Onuh, who exemplifies the dedication and fortitude required to confront the pressing security challenges facing Benue State today.
