Letter to Hon. Ojotu Ojema and Agatu Youths by Comr Paul Edoh Jnr

**Letter to Hon. Ojotu Ojema and Agatu Youths**

*4/5/2025.***

Dear Hon. Chief. Past. Ojotu Ojema and Esteemed Youth of Agatu,

As we navigate the evolving political landscape of our beloved constituency of Agatu and Apa Local Government Areas, it is paramount to reaffirm the values of equity, respect, and historical awareness that have traditionally shaped our representation. The present discourse regarding your tenure and the principle of power rotation necessitates a thoughtful reflection on our past while striving for a balanced future.

**Historical Context**

Dear Hon. Ojema, considering the historical framework of power sharing that has governed our constitutioncy you have come to meet, it is essential of adhere to this political dynamics. This established rotation has historically benefited both Agatu and Apa, fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation, reasons your for sincere promise one term to the people of Igah-okpaya during your consultation. As you approach the end of your first tenure in 2027, I encourage you to reflect on the commitments made, especially to our esteemed elder, His Royal Highness Baba Odangla, regarding fulfilling Hon. Godday’s commitment of an eight year term. This promise is significant in the eyes of your constituents and speaks to the call for accountability.

**Legacy of Unity**

Rather than seeking to extend your tenure solely for the benefit of Agatu, I urge you to envision a legacy that embraces shared governance and equitable representation. A potential continued dominance of Agatu, possibly extending to an unprecedented 24 years, risks fostering a sense of disenfranchisement among the youth and the larger Apa community. Pursuing power at the expense of inclusivity could provoke divisions and resentment, thereby jeopardizing the political harmony we strive to maintain.

**Future Opportunities**

I propose you consider an alternative path transitioning into a Senate role could serve to advocate for both LGAs more broadly. Such a strategic move could enhance your ability to influence policy while nurturing goodwill among all constituents, as opposed to fostering an environment of political stagnation. Your leadership and vision hold immense value that can greatly benefit both Agatu and Apa if directed towards collaboration.

**A Collective Responsibility**

To the youth of Agatu, this message stands not only as an appeal but as a reminder of your vital role in shaping the political future of our community. It is essential to resist any moves to extend the cycle of dominance, for the political missteps of one can have enduring effects on the entire Agatu. A push for an extended term could jeopardize opportunities for future leaders from Agatu and beyond. This situation transcends individual aspirations; it is about establishing a governance structure that will impact our comstituency for generations to come.

As we collectively forge ahead, let us embrace a spirit of collaboration, engage in open dialogue, and prioritize the principles of inclusivity and fairness. In doing so, we can uphold the integrity of our power-sharing arrangements and cultivate a political environment that is equitable for all.

We value your leadership, Hon. Ojema, and envision a future where you can continue to make us proud in a capacity that champions both Agatu and Apa.

Sincerely,

Comrade Paul G. Edoh Jr. Mnst, Aispon, Mnapps

Your Committed Brother and Advocate for Unity
