Paul Edoh: Benue Activist Champions fairness in Apa-Agatu, recommends Senate Bid for Hon. Ojema.

In a heartfelt letter addressed to Hon. Ojotu Ojema, Sunday 24th May, 2025. The chairman, house committee on inland water ways in the 10th National Assembly, has been advised by a prominent voice on power rotation and good governance, Comrade Paul Edoh Jr urged all sons and daughters of Agatu in both the Apa and Agatu federal constituencies to unite in the pursuit of equitable political representation. Edoh’s call comes as the political landscape shifts and the principle of power rotation once again takes center stage in the discussions surrounding the upcoming elections.

Edoh emphasized the importance of historical awareness and the spirit of cooperation that has long defined the relationship between Agatu and Apa. Referencing Hon. Ojema’s tenure, he highlighted the commitment made during consultations to ensure fair representation and to uphold the promises made to influential community leaders. “As you approach the end of your first term in 2027, I encourage you to reflect on the commitments made, especially to our esteemed elder, His Royal Highness Baba Odangla,” Edoh stated in his letter.

The advocate warned against the potential pitfalls of extending Agatu’s political dominance, which could lead to disenfranchisement among the youth and foster divisions within the broader Apa community. “Pursuing power at the expense of inclusivity could provoke resentment and jeopardize the political harmony we strive to maintain,” he stated.

In a visionary suggestion, Edoh proposed that Hon. Ojema consider transitioning into a Senate role, which he believes could better serve both local government areas by enabling broader advocacy and collaboration. “Your leadership and vision hold immense value that can greatly benefit both Agatu and Apa if directed towards cooperation,” he added.

Emphasizing the collective responsibility of the Agatu youth, Edoh warned against any attempts to extend the cycle of dominance in the political sphere. He asserted that such actions could jeopardize opportunities for future leaders from Agatu and beyond, affecting the community’s political legacy for generations to come if care is not taken.

Edoh concluded his letter by calling for open dialogue, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to the principles of inclusivity and fairness. As the political landscape prepares for another electoral cycle, the message resonates, urging all stakeholders to prioritize the needs of the constituency and cultivate a political environment that promotes equity for all.

The letter serves as a rallying cry for the Agatu and Apa communities to embrace unity and work towards a future that not only honors past commitments but also paves the way for a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow of Agatu’s.
