NCDC MANAGEMENT MEETS MINISTER FOR STEEL DEVELOPMENT; ENGAGES NALDA EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
The Management Team of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has continued its ongoing engagement and consultative visits with a strategic meeting held with the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, in Abuja.
The delegation was led by the Managing Director/CEO of the Commission, Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, who explained that the visit was aimed at exploring areas of collaboration to harness the steel potential and industrial capacity of the North Central region.
Dr. Tsenyil noted that the Commission is particularly interested in opportunities within Ajaokuta Steel Company, the National Iron Ore Mining Company, and the Jos Steel Rolling Mill, among others, which hold significant promise for accelerating industrial development across the region.
He emphasized that the NCDC is committed to supporting the establishment and expansion of industries that will generate employment, stimulate economic growth, and maximize the region’s natural resource advantage.
In his remarks, the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, congratulated the NCDC Management Team on their appointment and welcomed the collaboration initiative.
He assured the Commission of the Ministry’s full support toward unlocking the region’s steel and industrial development potential in line with the Federal Government’s agenda.
The NCDC delegation also visited the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) where they met with the Executive Secretary/CEO, Engr. Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo.
During the visit, Dr. Tsenyil extended the condolences of the Commission to the Adebayo family over the recent loss of their father. He further highlighted the critical role of NALDA in achieving agricultural transformation, expressing NCDC’s readiness to work closely with the Authority in using agriculture as a vehicle for tackling insecurity, unemployment, and other socio-economic challenges in the North Central region.
He stressed that modern mechanized agriculture, agro-processing, certification, value-chain development, and farmer support programs require access to land and coordinated partnership—areas where collaboration between NALDA and NCDC would be invaluable.
In his response, Engr. Adebayo congratulated the NCDC leadership and reaffirmed NALDA’s willingness to partner with the Commission, especially in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He encouraged the NCDC to leverage the region’s comparative advantage in specific crops and work toward establishing clusters that can host agro-based light and heavy industries.
Both organizations agreed to deepen engagements and bring additional partners on board in order to create a strong, sustainable agricultural and industrial ecosystem for the North Central region.
