*AGATU NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL RAISES ALARM OVER EGBA SHOOTING INCIDENTS*
The Agatu National Youth Council (ANYC) has expressed deep concern over recent shooting incidents in Egba, Agatu Local Government Area, Benue State. Reports indicate gunfire occurred during a stakeholders’ meeting in Makurdi and alleged shooting by Egba people yesterday, sparking fears for community safety [1].
ANYC views these incidents as linked to ongoing communal tensions and insecurity, rather than festive celebrations. Recent attacks in Agatu have claimed lives and led to abductions, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures [2].
The council urges authorities to address the root causes of these clashes, including land disputes and resource conflicts, to restore peace in the area. ANYC calls on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
“We must prioritize the safety and well-being of our people,” said ANYC leadership. “It’s time for collective action to address these security challenges and build a peaceful Agatu.”
