In a historic political announcement, Hon. The revelation was shared by his media team via his official Facebook page 28th December 2025, marking a pivotal moment in the local political landscape.

Hon. Akpode, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), follows in the footsteps of fellow aspirants Chief Matthew Inalegwu of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Barr. Joy Ameh Okpaimo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the only female aspirant making wave. Ngbede becoming the third son of APA to enter the race. As the son of the late Baba Akpode, a revered political figure in the constituency, he is driven by a commitment to continue the political legacy left incomplete.

The official campaign kick off was met with warmth and enthusiastic support as local traditional rulers publicly endorsed Hon. Akpode’s ambitions. In a notable ceremony held in APA, His Royal Highness Chief John Audu Antenyi, Odejor K APA, bestowed his blessings upon Akpode. “Your intentions are noble,” HRH Antenyi articulated, emphasizing the community’s need for dedicated leaders who prioritize the people’s aspirations. “Go forth with courage and commitment,” he encouraged.

The excitement surrounding Hon. Akpode’s candidacy extended to Agatu, where he was welcomed by an impressive gathering of supporters, including local residents and ADC stakeholders. Many carried banners adorned with slogans of support, cheering for him in what was described as a historic moment for the constituency.

Among the more than 40 traditional rulers present at the gathering in Ad’Agatu House was Chief Dominic Ondachi, the clan head of Achega, who spoke about the significant impact of Hon. Akpode’s family legacy on local politics. “We must remember the great things your father accomplished in this community. May his spirit guide you on this journey,” he stated, establishing a strong connection between Akpode’s aspirations and the positive trajectory of the constituency.

Chief Jerry Ochola, the ward head of Enungba, echoed the sentiment of continuity and service, recalling the contributions of the late Baba Akpode to the political landscape of APA and Agatu. “Your father laid a foundation rooted in integrity and service, and we have no doubt you will follow in his footsteps,” he remarked, further energizing the crowd.

The paramount traditional ruler of Agatu, Chief Dr. Godwin Ngbede Onah Ada-Agatu, also extended his royal blessings, reinforcing the ideals of leadership and service essential for the community’s development.

With royal blessings and robust community support, Hon. Ngbede Baba Akpode embarks on his campaign, positioning himself as a candidate committed to the progress and welfare of the APA/Agatu Federal Constituency. As the electoral season intensifies, all eyes will be on this new contender as he seeks to uphold and advance the good legacy of his family while bringing innovative solutions to the forefront of political discourse in the constituency.
