*COURT JAILS BUSINESSMAN 48 YEARS FOR N500M INVESTMENT SCAM*

 

Agene Johnson Godwin, the Managing Director of Builderstech Solution Ltd, has been sentenced to 48 years in prison without the option of a fine by Justice M.S. Abubakar of the Federal High Court in Makurdi. Godwin was found guilty of defrauding over 5,000 people of more than N500 million through an investment scam. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had brought an 8-count charge against him, and he was convicted on all counts, including conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, and other financial crimes. ¹ ²

 

The EFCC investigation revealed that Godwin used the funds for personal gain, maintaining a façade of legitimate business operations. The court emphasized the gravity of the offence, describing it as a brazen exploitation of public trust and a serious threat to economic stability.
