*AGATU COMMUNITY DISTANCES ITSELF FROM CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES*
The Agatu community has issued a statement distancing itself from individuals involved in criminal activities, following a video of a young man claiming to be from Obagaji, Agatu, who was caught stealing phones.
The community clarified that the individual, whose father is Musa Gugbor, is not an indigenous Agatu person, but rather an immigrant living in Obagaji. The statement highlighted Musa Gugbor’s history of dubious activities and alleged involvement in past incidents, including an altercation with someone named Rabiu.
The Agatu community emphasized that it is predominantly a farming community, comprising hardworking and law-abiding citizens. The statement urged the public to note that individuals involved in criminal activities in Agatu cannot claim to represent the community, and that the community disassociates itself from such actions.
The community’s statement reads: “We the Agatu are not thieves, not criminals… Anyone living in Agatu involved in criminality cannot just trace back their origin to our land, we are not criminal and never will.”
