*OLOGBA AND EGBA CLASH AGAIN, TENSION RISES IN AGATU*
A fresh outbreak of violence between Ologba and Egba communities in Agatu has left residents on edge. The clash, which occurred at the Ochukwu river, was sparked by an attack on Ologba fishermen by Egba people, despite a court ruling in favour of Ologba.
Hon. Adakole Sale James, an Egba leader, has condemned the attack and called for peace, but Comr Ochokwunu Daniel Edor, ANYC Convener, alleges that some stakeholders are undermining his efforts. The military was deployed to the scene, but withdrew after a confrontation with Egba residents and suspected herdsmen.
ANYC commends Agatu local government chairman, Hon. James Melvin Ejeh, for his efforts to resolve the crisis and urges both communities to respect the rule of law. The group condemns the violence and calls for calm, emphasizing that peace is paramount.
The ANYC leader criticized both communities for their actions, saying Ologba should have waited for calm before fishing and Egba should respect the court ruling. No deaths have been reported, but the situation remains tense.
