*AIYA CONVENER SLAMS AGATU ELDERS: “YOU VALUE POLITICS OVER PEACE”*
Comr Ochokwunu Daniel Edor, Convener of the Agatu Indigenous Youth Association (AIYA), has launched a scathing rebuke of Agatu’s political class, accusing them of prioritizing personal interests over peace and mutual co-existence.
In a strongly worded statement, Edor criticized those opposing the move to sideline Egba and Ologba from Agatu politics. He argued that some Agatu people now defending Egba’s political ambitions would have opposed Ologba candidates if the roles were reversed. “They are seriously against that relegation because it’s an Egba person that is desiring to be in the ballot,” Edor stated.
The AIYA leader accused prominent Agatu figures of refusing to tell Egba people to obey court judgements from a competent jurisdiction. “You can see reputable people within Agatu yet cannot tell Egba people to obey the law and honour the court,” he said.
Edor alleged that certain elders are sending youths to attack him online for his stance. “I know all of you sending those children to call me and tell me nonsense,” he said. “I want you all to know that I, Edor Saleh, am gallant anytime, any day.”
He challenged critics to redirect their energy: “Use the energy you are using to attack the movement of relegating the two communities from politics and tell Egba people to obey the law and do the right thing.”
“Someone cannot obey the law, he wants to be the custodian of that same law, and some elders will gather and hide the truth for personal gain,” Edor added. “Agatu is bigger than all of you and your personal desires. They are rejected by the ancestors of our land, and I am the spokesperson of those ancestors.”
Edor maintained that respect for the rule of law is non-negotiable for anyone seeking to govern Agatu Local Government.
