PRESS RELEASE: AIYA Urges Agatu Youths to Suspend Planned Protest Over Oloche Silas Iduh Case, Cites Ongoing Legal Process
In a state signed by the Convener and National President of The Agatu Indigenous Youth Association (AIYA), AIYA states that in the spirit of brotherhood and unity, it’s advising and appealing to all Agatu youths to put on hold all planned protests regarding the case of Oloche Silas Iduh.
AIYA notes that there is already an ongoing collaboration between Oloche’s legal team and stakeholders from Agatu and the wider Idoma community to address the matter and bring it to a conclusive end through due process.
“We therefore admonish that all planned protests on this issue be suspended until further notice, to allow the legal process to take its course,” said AIYA. “The matter is being judiciously engaged, and we are hopeful that justice will be served in the near future.”
Furthermore, AIYA appreciates every young Agatu person who saw this as a concern and was ready to take part in the proposed protest.
“That spirit of solidarity is commendable,” the association stated. “At this time, however, restraint will strengthen the legal effort underway and prevent interference.”
AIYA remains committed to defending the rights and welfare of Agatu youths and will continue to update the public as developments unfold.
