PRESS RELEASE: Agatu Indigenous Youth Association Hails Chairman James Melvin Ejeh for Historic Reward to Essay Competition Winner
*Agatu, Benue State – October 4, 2025* – The Agatu Indigenous Youth Association (AIYA) has commended Hon. James Melvin Ejeh, Chairman of Agatu Local Government, for his recognition and cash reward to Imoni Adoga Joshua, who emerged as 2nd Runner-Up in a recent Essay Competition held in Enugu.
Following AIYA’s call for recognition of Imoni, the Chairman presented the young scholar with a cash prize of ₦1,000,000. According to AIYA, this marks the first time such an award has been made to a student from Obagaji and the wider Agatu Local Government area in recognition of academic excellence.
In a statement signed by its Convener/National President, Comr. Ochokwunu Daniel Edor, AIYA described the gesture as a demonstration of the Chairman’s commitment to education and youth development.
“The Chairman has proven himself worthy of the people and has shown the value he places on education,” the statement read. “By celebrating excellence in this manner, Hon. Ejeh has set a historic precedent and created a powerful channel to inspire the younger generation to take their studies seriously.”
AIYA further noted that investment in education remains one of the most critical forms of human capital development, and expressed appreciation for the Chairman’s leadership by example.
